Aciu
WHO IS ACIU?
Just 23 km from Zalău and near the historic site of Michael the Brave's last victorious battle in 1601, you will find the charming village of Bocșita. This village, surrounded by rolling hills, orchards, oak forests and wild flower meadows, is renowned for its exceptional pălincă. For almost 500 years the Aciu family have been at the heart of this craft, preserving the secrets of their iconic recipe. Locals and travellers alike sought the wisdom of Aciu, the legendary palincar, hoping to uncover the magic behind the taste that has made his pălincă a symbol of authenticity and heritage.
Today the legacy lives on through his son, who carries forward the tradition with unwavering dedication, ensuring the same quality and passion are distilled into every golden drop.
WHAT DO THEY DO?
Aciu produces pălincă they way it has always been done: naturally, with respect for tradition and the land. The process begins with carefully selected fruits, such as plums, distilled in copped cauldrons to retain their pure essence. After distillation, the pălincă is aged in oak barrels, a step that soften its taste and imparts a warm, golden hue. Every step follows the original recipe passed down through generations, free from industrialisation and crafted in small batches to ensure an unmatched quality.
THE PRODUCE...
The result is a pălincă that ignites both the throat and the heart - a drink to be savoured on special occasions or shared with honoured guests. With Aciu, you're not just drinking a spirit; you're experiencing a centuries old heritage that embodies the Soul of Bocșita.
